Inspired by this weeks
colour inspiration, I've been playing to see what effects I can make with acrylic paint and salt... fun!
If you want to try, all you need is...
+ heavy paper (I've used lovely thick handmade paper)
+ acrylic paints (I've used Kaisercolour Teal, Jo Sonja Colony Blue and Kaisercolour Spearmint)
+ jar of water
+ brush
+ rock salt (I've used a grinder to get varying sizes)
Using the paint brush, put a good slosh of water on the paper and then pick up a little acrylic paint at a time and blend it into the water. Add a little more water as you go if necessary.
Then sprinkle salt onto the wet paint.
Leave to dry for a few hours and brush away the salt to see your finished piece.
Here's a close up of how it turned out!
I think I'll use mine to cover a notebook!
You can experiment by varying the wetness and size of salt granules to see how it changes the results. This method works really well with watercolour paints too!
We'd love to see you try too! Share your snaps on instagram or facebook @tickletheimagination
