My favourite childhood dessert memory was my Oma's Plum cake, made on fresh, yeast dough. With a sprinkling of sugar. Best thing ever!

I remember my mum making Chewy Chocolate Cookies sometimes with smarties on top all my friends and myself loved them Yum
ReplyDeleteMy Gran used to make a delicious coffee cake, a circular shape with the middle cut out, soaked in coffee and a splash of something stronger, covered in whipped cream and chopped nuts on top, it was such a treat for special occasions, I used to think it was so fancy. Delicious and moist and creamy! Now... so retro!

My favorite childhood dessert was strawberry jam and cream sandwiches on fresh white bread - a special treat when visiting Nan and Pop on the farm.

Mum's butter cream icing on her cakes, I could eat that on it's own!. I am much slimmer having migrated to Australia from Ireland.

My grandmother use to make bread and butter pudding in a old clay dish. We would play cards at the kitchen table while it cooked. My fondest memories are eating it hot with homemade custard. Yummy. I now make it for my Miss Two.
ReplyDeleteThe stage when mum let me make rice pudding for breakfast... didn't last that long though!!
