{christmas around the world} canada

One of the features we had planned for our christmas issue was a gorgeous 'christmas around the world' story inspired by Robyn from banana j creations.

Unfortunately we just didn't get enough stories to cover every part of the world, but thought it would be such a shame not to share the gorgeous stories that were sent through from Robyn, Georgie, Ilja and Cynthia... so over the coming weeks we will share each of their stories and photos with you!

First up, Robyn shares her lovely story and stunning photos of christmas in Canada!

Christmas in Canada fills my heart with many warm memories.

Rugged up in layers of warm clothes you watch in wonder as snowflakes drift down from the heavens. The night turns silent, you can almost hear each flake gently land to earth. You spread your arms, tilt your head, open your mouth, feeling the sensation of the flake melting on your tongue.

With the fresh snow crunching under foot you walk the streets. Rows upon rows of houses in the neighbourhood would sparkle with multicoloured Christmas light displays. The sound of laughing
kids ring through the air as they throw snowballs at each other, licking icicles formed on household eves. The slapping of hockey sticks crack as future superstars skate on the frozen lake.

You escape the cold in the warm sanctuary of the home as the flames dance in the fireplace. Mum hands you a cup of hot chocolate with a smile and a glint in her eye. A moment in life where time feels like it has stopped. With weary eyes you place your stocking over the mantle, eager to wake the next morning to a blanket of white outside and a bounty of gifts ready to tear open inside.

  1. Great post, Robyn! The pictures are so pretty! It's Amber Brown by the way :) I just realized I was commenting using my blog name!
